Care vs Business

I’ve spoken to a lot of people over the last few months in the NDIS, Aged Care, Veteran Care, Allied Health and most facets of healthcare space, and the message is very clear.

  • Without a genuine desire to serve and care for people, a healthcare business won’t be successful.

  • Without a strong focus on financials and the “business” side of operations, a healthcare business won’t be successful.

In an industry with such tight margins, it's surprising how often people simply accept the status quo and struggle along, justifying “it is what it is”.

When business owners are working evenings and weekend to complete critical administrative tasks and reaching a point of burnout just because “is it what it is”.

When business owners are struggling to pay themselves a liveable wage and make sacrifices just to keep operational expenses in check to keep the rest of the team employed “it is what it is”.

When a business owner is jumping in to solve operational problems, that most of the time could have been fixed with some proper planning “it is what it is”.

When carers, support workers are frustrated with systems not working properly or having lengthy wait times due to being overcapacity “it is what it is”.

When patients and clients receive poor service and lack of continuity of care due to burnout of their carers “it is what it is”.

It doesn’t have to be that way.

We can start doing things in a different, better way to get a different, better result. that not only solve the tight margin problem but also provide better, more sustainable care.

By rethinking how work gets done and where, we realise work can be done differently. Remotely.

Many healthcare companies are realising how to balance care with business and realising that while face-to-face care and support remain local, back-end admin tasks such as scheduling, payroll and general administration can be done remotely.

This has tangible benefits to business owners, team members and ultimately the end patient and client, including:

✅ Aligning care and the business

✅ Increased efficiency and productivity face-to-face

✅ Improved staff wellbeing, happiness and retention

✅ Better continuity of care for patients and clients

 ✅ Reduced costs
